This is a sort of "album that never was". I had a record planned out to be recorded, performed, and toured by the five-member lineup listed below, of which these three were the first songs to be completed. Unfortunately, Thor and Sly moved away to bigger and better things, and while we are all still buddies and stay in touch, they're just far enough away that rehearsing and touring together is basically an impossibility. So I scrapped my original album plan and began anew, and decided to release these three tracks as a little EP-thingy. The title refers to the subject matter of the songs. (Not all songs about sad or discomfiting events have to be downers.)

BTW, some early, "demo-ish" mixes of these songs were available on our SoundCloud account for a while, but have since been replaced with these versions.

Null Device is probably the most slickly produced music you will hear come out of Madison. Better yet, their music is quite highbrow. Insightful lyrics, a fusion of different styles and world instruments make them the kind of band you would think NPR would be featuring regularly. Josh Killcrop
